Does movement come into the production of “Lethal Weapon 5”? Danny Glover and Mel Gibson celebrated a reunion at Fan Expo Philadelphia.
Is it a sign that the fifth edition of “Lethal Weapon” will finally become a reality in the foreseeable future? For the second time this year, Danny Glover (78) and Mel Gibson (69) met and celebrated a reunion of the iconic Buddy comedy series, which originated in 1987 with a relatively serious part. Together, Gibson and Glover were now on stage at Fan Expo Philadelphia in 2025 and proved that the chemistry is still right between them.
In particular, Gibson presented itself in a well-trained top form and ready to slip into the role of the policeman hot spur Martin Riggs. But also Glover, whose figure Roger Murtauh, as is well known in 1987 and at the tender age of 41, declared “too old for the shit”, sprayed from zest for action.
What about the fifth part?
Already in February of this year the two were on stage at the Megacon in Orlando, Florida. But promising news about the announced “Lethal Weapon 5”, which has been stuck in the planning phase for years, has only been announced.
: “I sat down with an author and we made two or three script designs, and the result was pretty good. I even think it is the best of everyone. It was a lot of fun and was very emotional.”
At first that sounds like the starting signal for filming is only a question from a short time. However, Gibson restricted: “For some reason, the studios have big problems. I don’t know why. But it’s a really good script.”
One reason why the project has been running for many years was the death of director Richard Donner in 2021, which had shot all four previous parts. For a while, Gibson has also been a spectator-train horse that he was still at the time of “Braveheart” and Co. The starting point for this was anti -Semitic, racist and misogynistic statements that he had made around 20 years ago.
