Lady Gaga won a sports Emmy. Now the pop star is only missing a Tony Award for the coveted eGot status.
Lady Gaga can add another prestigious price to your impressive collection. On Tuesday, the 38-year-old singer and actress was awarded a sports Emmy for her performance of the song “Hold My Hand” at this year’s Super Bowl. With this triumph, the artist is only a step away from the coveted egot status – an exclusive group of artists who have won at least one Emmy, Grammy, Academy and Tony Award.
The emotional super bowl appearance
Her currently iconic Super Bowl performance, which was now awarded with a sports Emmy, took place on the Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The pre -recorded appearance honored the 14 people who lost their lives on New Year’s Day in New Orleans in a terrorist attack. Lady Gaga sang touching the piano. She was accompanied by first aiders, the football personalities Tom Brady and Michael Strahan and a local gospel choir. The presented song “Hold My Hand” comes from the film “Top Gun: Maverick”.
On the way to the complete eGot?
With the Emmy win, Lady Gaga has now won three of the four prices required for the eGot status at least once. In her career she has already received 14 Grammy Awards and an Oscar for the best original song at the Academy Awards 2019 – “Shallow” in “A Star is Born”. Should she also win a Tony Award, she would be the only seventh woman in the story that would achieve the prestigious egot status.
In contrast to some other artists who are close to the egot status but are not interested in Broadway productions, Gaga actually dreams of a career at the theater. Von Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers said in March about her Broadway ambitions: “That would give me the ultimate joy – to compose all of the music, to work with great authors on the story and the script, and then of course also the stage design and the costumes.”
