The creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knighttalked about what will be the new series after the movie Netflix.
Last month, reports arose that a new series was being prepared for the BBC program, which concluded its sixth broadcast in 2022, this time set in the 1950s. This comes immediately after a new movie from Netflix call The Immortal Man.
Knight has now officially confirmed that the series will take place and remain in the central location of Birmingham.
“There is a new series and what is really great for Birmingham is that, like the movie, it will be filmed here,”he told Birminghamlive.
As reported above, Cillian Murphy It could return as Tommy Shelby, and the series will focus on a new generation of Peaky Blinders.
“Birmingham is the cradle of the Peaky Blinders, so it is logical that the next chapter of its history is filmed here, in the city where it all started,” added West Midlands mayor Richard Parker. “I have been working closely with Steven Knight to make this happen and I am delighted that we are on the way to bringing this iconic return production to Birmingham.”
Knight had previously hinted at a possible future program, suggesting that they were planning to “focus on the new generation in a series that will take place after World War II.”
What is known about the Peaky Blinders movie
This comes after the next movie Peaky Blinders, in which Murphy will return as Shelby with Knight writing and Tom Harper directing.
In February, Knight announced about the film: “I would say yes, but it is fantastic. I think we have the best British actors gathered. With what I am seeing, the preliminary shots, the assemblies, nobody will disappoint. It is something incredible. It is a very appropriate way to finish this part of the story.”
The Immortal Man will be set in World War II and will also have the return of the stars Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck and Stephen Grahamas well as with new incorporations to the cast as Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth.
