Son Diego is “Dancing Star 2025”: Verona Pooth is so proud

The 18th season of “Let’s Dance” ended on Friday evening with a grand finale and even greater surprise: Diego Pooth (21) unexpectedly won the title “Dancing Star 2025” together with dance partner Ekaterina Leonova (38). Of course, one person is of course proud: his mother Verona (57).

While Diego Pooth shows himself a little hesitantly in the RTL interview after his victory: “I was firmly convinced that we would be third,” Verona Pooth is a bit more enthusiastic than she burst into the conversation with moderator Frauke Ludowig (61). At first she did not believe that her son could make it into the final at all, but gradually became more optimistic due to his constant improvement.

“The emotions were just so high today, you couldn’t assess it. But that he won in the end is simply incredible,” says the entertainer and can hardly hold her pride back. “I can’t believe that, what did you both do there?! 15 weeks locked up in the gym and something like that came out!”

Husband Franjo (55) was happy, “as if Germany had become a soccer world champion,” added Verona with a laugh. Verona Pooth also speaks up on Instagram. And repeated: “It is incredible, it’s just incredible.”

Diego Pooth and Ekaterina prevailed in the first purely male “Let’s Dance” final in 2025 against Turn Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen (37) and Para swimmer Taliso Engel (22). Although the couple had the slightest total score after the three dance rounds with 87 out of 90 possible points, the audience apparently saw the Pooth sprouts in front and catapulted him to first place by telephone.
