The “The Crown” actor talks about what it feels like to be the “star of the hour”. And he tells of a childhood sin.
“The Crown” star Josh O’Connor let sweets go as a child. In the past, he liked to go to a kiosk around the corner from his home, where there was “Penny Sweets”, that is, cheap sweets, said the 35-year-old of the dpa in Cannes.
There he often fled his parents for disputes and therefore got on well with the operator. “And then I took advantage of this relationship and stole Penny Sweets,” he said.
“When I was seven years old, my parents asked me: What do you want to be? And my brothers said:” I want to be a footballer “(…). I wanted to lead the confectionery shop on the corner. That was my whole ambition. I could still do it.”
Next film with Steven Spielberg
The Brit is currently one of the most sought -after actors. When asked how it feels that everyone wants to work with him at the moment, said O’Connor (“Challengers – Rivals”, “The Photographer”): “I spend less time at home, and that’s the part that annoys. I am very happy that I work.”
O’Connor is currently shooting with the director icon Steven Spielberg. He was represented in two competition contributions at the film festival in Cannes. “It will pass. It will be over at any moment. At the moment I am still sucking it all into myself,” he said.
One of his new films is “The Mastermind” by Kelly Reichardt. It deals with a poorly executed art streak.
