These German acting pairs prove: love and work can be combined perfectly.
Some stories write life itself – and sometimes they are even filmed. There are several couples in the German drama scene who not only harmonize privately, but also develop impressive chemistry in front of the camera. Her joint projects show that real love can also lead to extraordinary results professionally. A look at eight prominent duos.
Elena Uhlig and Fritz Karl
Elena Uhlig and Fritz Karl has been proving that versatility is the key to success. The couple, who, together with four children – brought three other children to the patchwork family – lived in Munich, did not conclude the covenant for life until 2023. She said Spot on News about the care patient: “We are trying to change filming. And we have had a wonderful nanny for many years. She is almost part of the family. It’s a great gift and happiness for us.”
They work together in front of the camera and on stage. Your current joint project is the stage program “Relationship status: done”, with which you go on tour in 2025. On May 24th from 8:15 p.m. in the first, Elena Uhlig and Fritz Karl can be seen together in the TV thriller “Steirerangst” (2022).
Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel
Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel have been a couple since 1998 and have been married since 2011. Together they stood in front of the camera for the successful series “The King of St. Pauli” (1998). They are now celebrating great success with their ARD comedy series “… for beginners” (since 2018). The parents of two sons have never played a real lover couple despite the many joint projects. “Can still be,” she said Spot on News in an interview. He added: “In any case, it is not a intention that this has not yet occurred. If the script fits, we also like to play a couple of lovers.”
Most recently, Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel stood in front of the camera for the touching ARD drama “Quertress” (2025). In the drama they play siblings who have to deal with their father’s suicide.
Lina Beckmann and Charly Hübner
Lina Beckmann and Charly Hübner also offer a fascinating constellation. The couple, who had been married for many years – brought a son to the relationship – first drew attention to themselves in 2015 in the TV comedy “Caution to people”, where they embodied a couple. This was followed by “young light” (2016), “do you sometimes feel burned out and empty?” (2017) and “Sophia, Death and I” (2023).
However, her most remarkable professional connection unfolds in the “Police Call 110”: After Charly Hübner delighted the spectators as Commissioner Sascha Bukow from Rostock for years, Lina Beckmann took over his successor in 2022 as Commissioner Melly Böwe.
Both can also be experienced together regularly on the theater stage and inspire the audience with their versatility.
Ann-Kathrin Kramer and Harald Krassnitzer
Ann -Kathrin Kramer and Harald Krassnitzer met while filming “Hurenmurge – a priest is silent” (1998). They have been a couple since 1999 and married since 2009. She brought a son to the relationship. Other joint projects include “Parents alone at Haus” (2017) or “Family different: the pink glasses” (2024) – “It is always a blessing for us when we are together because we also have to spend a lot of time where we are not in the same place,” enthused Krassnitzer in an interview with the station ZDF.
Most recently, they impressed in the ARD/ORF drama “from life” (2024), in which they play a couple who is thrown off the track after 25 years of marriage by a sudden stroke.
Anna Schudt and Moritz Führmann
Anna Schudt and Moritz Führmann played sister and brother in the play “Anna Karenina”. After the premiere in February 2010 in the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus there was “the first kiss” ,. A wedding followed and two sons together, another son brought them into the relationship.
Both were seen in the pilot film for crime series “Harter Brocken”. And between 2015 and 2023 the couple was in front of the camera for the Dortmund “crime scene”. She played Commissioner Martin Bönisch from 2012 until her film death 2023, and has been embodied by prosecutor Matuschek since 2015.
Bettina Zimmermann and Kai Wiesinger
Bettina Zimmermann and Kai Wiesinger made their love at the Berlinale in February 2014. They have a son together, another brought them to the relationship and two daughters. Together they created the comedy series “The Lack is off” (2015-2018).
Her most recent joint project was the television film “Family Anders: two are one too much” (2023). In an interview with Spot on News, they said: “We are happy to work together and if we like the book and the story, we are of course not happy to be separated from each other.” Standing together in front of the camera is “great”, because “we have the same timing and the same humor and therefore we enjoy it.
Sebastian Bezzel and Johanna Christine Gehlen
Sebastian Bezzel and Johanna Christine Gehlen have been married since 2009 and have a son and daughter. Together they stood in front of the camera for the Lake Constance “crime scene: blood gang” (2007). Since then, they have rely on quality instead of quantity on their joint projects.
The Miniseries “Da is’ yes nothing” (2020) was followed by the Joyn comedy series “The Stinos – particularly stinknormal” (2024). “We enjoy this time when we can fully concentrate on something that we have a lot of fun,” said Bezzel in a double interview with Spot on News.
Anna Loos and Jan Josef Liefers
Anna Loos and Jan Josef Liefers laid the foundation of their relationship in 1999 on the set of the television film “Hold me down!”. They have been married since 2004 and have proven several times since then that their chemistry also works in front of the camera. One of her best-known joint productions is the ARD film “Nacht about Berlin” (2013), in which you embody a couple of lovers against the background of the seizure of power by the National Socialists.
Her latest project leads the parents of two daughters back to the roots of their art: with the scenic reading after Nick Hornby “Nobody said that you should move out” they are on tour together in 2024/2025.
