For her drama “look in the sun”, the Berlin director won the jury’s prize at the Cannes Film Festival. At first she was afraid of being interrogated.
The Berlin filmmaker Mascha Schilinski reacted with a certain unbelief to her award at the film festival in Cannes. “I was afraid that I heard it wrong or didn’t hear it properly,” said the 41-year-old. “It was somehow a surreal moment, just wonderful.”
Schilinski was honored for her drama “look in the sun” with the price of the jury. She shares the award with the filmmaker Oliver Laxe (“Sirât”).
“Look in the sun” tells of four young women who live on a farm in the Altmark at different times. It is about domestic violence, repressed longings or inherited trauma who experience the four women. The film will come to German cinemas on September 11th.
