Constantin Schreiber has said goodbye to the “Tagesschau” with personal words and a Chinese saying.

Constantin Schreiber (45) moderated the main edition of the “Tagesschau” at 8 p.m. on May 25th. He leaves the show after eight and a half years at his own request. Finally, he addressed some personal words to the spectators.

He chose a Chinese proverb

“I presented the Tagesschau for the last time. Thank you for your trust in mine and our work. I wish you all, many positive news and believe in the good,” said the 45-year-old at the end of his last “Tagesschau”, which was about the new NSU documentary center in Chemnitz and ARD research case. For his farewell he chose a Chinese saying: “Where you go, go with your heart. I think that’s a good advice. I wish you a nice evening for the last time.”

Quiche for the team

Schreiber also gave some insights behind the scenes of his last working day. So he showed that he brought vegetables and sweets with his colleagues and had already said goodbye to him in the speaker room. He also posted videos from his last walk to the studio and the applause of the team after the show.

He wants to work again “in terms of content”

It was only announced in mid -May that the spokesman left the “Tagesschau” in order to devote himself to other tasks and “in the future again journalistically” work without it becoming more specific in terms of his plans for the future. “It was years and tasks for which I am very grateful and that enriched me personally and professionally,” said Schreiber in a statement on Instagram.

Constantin Schreiber came up with “ARD-Aktuell” in 2017 and has been part of the main edition speaker team since 2021. After studying law and journalistic traineeship, he worked as a reporter in the Middle East, later in the Federal Foreign Office and at N-TV. In 2016, he received the Grimme Prize for his work on the series “Marhaba – Arriving in Germany”. He wrote several books, his new crime thriller “Akhenaten Curse” was just released.
