Music theater: New musical from Peter Plate about Berlin in the early 90s

The rose stud musician Peter Plate and his musical partner Ulf Leo Sommer bring a new musical on stage in 2026. The show entitled “We are in life” is about the time of departure and the AIDS crisis in Berlin in the early 1990s, as the Theater des Westens reports.

The musical is said to be the premiere of the musical on March 21, 2026 in the Theater in Berlin. The pre -sale starts this Tuesday (May 27).

The story revolves around family, freedom and the attitude to life in Berlin in the early 90s. “Time is characterized by euphoria – and fear of departure – and the all overshadow reality of AIDS.” The composer duo has already worked for the musicals “Ku’damm 56”, “Ku’damm 59”, “Romeo & Julia-love is everything” and “The nurse”.

Fifth musical from Summer and Plate

“With” We are alive “we would like to remind you. To those who have gone. To those who stay behind. And to what you shouldn’t forget – even if it has become quieter,” said Plate and Summer. It is her most personal project so far.

According to the announcement, the new piece revolves around the siblings Nina and Mario, who after the fall of the Berlin Wittenberg move to the capital and want to realize themselves. Mario falls in love with a Cuban dancer, Nina dreams of a career as a pop singer. Determined to win back their children, Mutti Rosie finally travels to Berlin.

Rosenstolz album of the same name from 2011

The idea for the play had already come to the play and summer in 2009, at the time they had already worked on a first musical layout. This resulted in the last Rosenstolz album of the same name in 2011.

The musical idea did not let go of them both until they picked up the topic in the summer of 2024. The first song from the play is to appear on Tuesday, accompanied by a music video.
