Dick van Dyke (99) started in 1964 as Bert in Disney’s “Mary Poppins”. In the meantime, the American film and television actor is almost a whole century in the world. At the event “Dick & Arlene van Dyke Present Vandy Camp”, the 99-year-old revealed in a mithing group with his wife Arlene van Dyke (53) that he and his long-time friend Ed Asner (1929-2021) had worked on a remake of the comedy “A strange couple” from 1968. But then Asner died in August 2021 at the age of 91.

The curse to be 100 years old

“It would have been so much fun, but we missed it. I lost a lot of friends,” said Dick van Dyke in Malibu. His wife added: “He survived. This is the curse to live for almost 100 years.” However, her husband is “still so positive”, although he has lost so many beloved friends and co-stars over the years. “Well, life was good to me. I can’t complain,” he replied when asked what the secret was behind his positive attitude.
