From its first pieces, marked by a gradual geometrization of the figure, to the current ones, where abstraction reaches its fullness, Cristian Mac Entyre has tirelessly explored the relations between form, movement and colo.

“Universes of interactive ways”the dazzling and playful exhibition in Zurbarán gallery, brings together a series of 25 geometric, optical and kinetic works of Cristian Mac Entyrecreated between 2012 and today. In each of the pieces a deep interest in psychology and perception is revealed: the apparent and the real, the manifest and the latent dialogue in an incessant game of mirrors, reflexes and multiplicities of meaning. The visual experience is intense and unique: it depends on each spectator.

From its first pieces, marked by a gradual geometrization of the figure, to the current ones, where abstraction reaches its fullness, Cristian Mac Entyre has tirelessly explored the relations between shape, movement and color, says Rodrigo Alonso in the prologue of the catalog of the sample. Today his work is geometric and is oriented without ambiguities towards kynetism and optical dynamism.

“What is seen in these paintings are undulating forms that, although they do not literally represent water, are deeply crossed by it. I do not seek to illustrate it. What I try is to share some of their behavior, their rhythm, their persistence.”points out the artist, who has been dedicated to kinetic and optical art for more than thirty years. He began his way in his father’s workshop, Eduardo Mac Entyre-co-creator of generative art-and since then he has developed a singular work, exhibited in museums, galleries and cultural spaces of Argentina and abroad.

In its pictorial pieces, it develops compositions of great visual complexity, constructed from the repetition, overlap and displacement of lines, or by frames and volumes that evoke a psychedelic language. The real volume appears in boxes that contain objects reflected by curved mirrors, and in pieces that generate optical interference thanks to the overlap of materials such as acrylics and metal meshes. The result is hypnotic.

In order to incite the displacement or deception of the contemplator, Mac Entyre It uses vibrations based on color theories, overlapping images, glass and acrylics with deforming effects, mirror curved surfaces, engines, light games and the most varied gadgets.

For Mac Entyre, paint is not a fixed image but is an optical organism: it is transformed with the look, it changes according to how one is positioned. “That,” says the artist, “has to do with the kinetic, yes, but also with something more vital: the image is not one, it is many. And each person, looking, produces their own version. As well as an optical work vibrates and transforms, we also do our perceptions, our links and our way of feeling. Nothing is static, neither outside nor inside.”

A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a universe where the muta and the spectator is an active part of the work.
