Janet Jackson surprisingly appeared with a federal eagle at the Amas. Heidi Klum ensured another German moment.
Somehow nobody could really count on in advance: this year’s American Music Awards were somehow in the sign of Germany. Heidi Klum (51) and – completely surprisingly – also provided – Janet Jackson (59). The latter used the so-called AMAs to perform live on a TV show again. In addition, the Icon Award was presented to her. “I am honored and grateful,” said Michael Jackson (1958-2009). The special thing: Janet actually wore a top when she appeared under a white bomber jacket that adorned the German federal eagle in the middle.
In addition, Heidi Klum once again made no secret of her German origin and thus ensured the second “German moment” at the award ceremony in Las Vegas. She had the honor of handing over the award for the most popular hip-hop artist and could not help but could not resist her mother tongue. The slightly bitter: the winner Eminem (52) himself was not on site at all.
The evening was moderated by Jennifer Lopez (55), which, however, was able to cause a stir with a sexy performance for a medley of her biggest hits. During her performance, she bluntly smooched – and almost uninhibited – both with one of her female background dancers and with a male counterpart live on stage. Does your ex-husband Ben Affleck (52) like to look there?
Taylor Swift didn’t come – and was still on everyone’s lips
By the way: Prices were also awarded: Billie Eilish (23) received the trophies for the artist of the year, the album of the year, the song of the year, the most popular artist on tour, the most popular female pop artist, the most popular pop album and the most popular pop song. The seven -fully awarded singer was also not on site at all. Eilish was only displayed and had the usual phrases ready: “This is incredible, I am speechless, that means everything, I would have loved to be there.”
Taylor Swift (35) was also not on site. It is worth mentioning because in the run-up to the event there was a lot of discussion about whether the pop star would use the AMA’s stage to once again position himself with a political statement against US President Donald Trump and to announce a new album. Obviously nothing came of it, although numerous swifties were waiting for their idol on site. Incidentally, the artist went out completely empty this year despite six nominations. With 40 awards, however, she still keeps the record.
Other winners of the evening included: Bruno Mars (best male pop artist), Post Malone (best male country artist & best country song), Beyoncé (best female country artist, & best Country album), Lady Gaga (Best Dance Artist) or Shakira (Best Latin Song). Also awarded: Gracie Abrams, Doechii, Dan + Shay, Megan Thee Stallion, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Sza, Bad Bunny, Becky G, Julión Álvarez, Twenty One Pilots, Tyla, RM and Soundtrack to Arcane League of Legends: Season 2.
