King Frederik has given his nephew Nikolai and Felix a great honor. A conciliatory gesture towards his brother?
King Frederik von Denmark tackled his 57th birthday on May 26th with a significant gesture that can be interpreted as a conciliatory step. that shows him together with his two nephews Nikolai (25) and Felix (22). It says: “At a private event before the family meal in Amalienborg Castle on the occasion of the 57th birthday of his majesty of the king, the king yesterday gave her excellence Graf Nikolai and Count Felix the big cross of the Dannebrog Order.”
A step with a signal effect. After all, there had recently been hot discussions and some speculation in the Danish royal family because of the titles of Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim (55) of Denmark. In 2022, Queen Margrethe II (85), which has now been abandoned, caused a sensation with the announcement to cord out the prince and princess titles of the children of her son Prince Joachim. In addition to Nikolai and Felix, the younger siblings Henrik (16) and Athena (13) also affected this.
That brings the order with it
At least the two older sons were given a great honor. The large cross of the Dannebrog Order is the second highest religious level, it is presented for outstanding services.
This is accompanied by the Instagram post that Count Nikolai and Count Felix now have to “have a personal knight’s shield made”. After these have been completed, they are hung in the knight’s chapel in Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød.
