Au Revoir, Canada: The British royal couple has left Ottawa again. Charles said goodbye.
King Charles III. (76) and Queen Camilla (77) ended their trip to Canada. The British royal couple said goodbye to its escort of police officers and military members on the roller field of Ottawa Airport before an aircraft from the Canadian government with a destination Great Britain.
“See you next time”
A statement of the monarch was published on several pictures of the two -day visit to Ottawa: “While my wife and I leave Canada, we would like to express our warmest thanks to all those who supported me as sovereign.
Previously, Charles and Camilla had still visited the nation. A trumpeter played “Last Post” and a band the Canadian and British national anthem. The king and the queen lay down a wreath and flowers on the grave of the unknown soldier.
Symphetic throne speech in parliament
The 76-year-old, who is also head of the state of Canada, had held a historical throne speech in the parliament on May 27. Prime Minister Mark Carney (60) had invited Charles, who first traveled to Canada as king, to give speech at the opening of Parliament. It is symbolic because so far only Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) kept the throne speech in 1957 and 1977. Among other things, Charles spoke of challenges for the country – as well as the identity and friendliness of the citizens.
