Jenna Ortega: So after “Wednesday” she was unhappy

Jenna Ortegas (22) sudden “Wednesday” Ruhm not only had positive sides for the actress. In an interview with the US that she was “an unfortunate person” after the first season of the series. “After the pressure, attention came – for someone who is rather introverted, it was very intense and scary,” says Ortega.

She also apparently struggles with her role in a way. “I play in a series that I will do for years in which I represent a student,” she explains. “But I’m also a young woman.” The school uniform “simply has something very patronized”. Her size doesn’t help her either: “Besides, people look down from above by nature when you are small.”

But Ortega was also able to take some things with them for their life through the Netflix series. “I definitely have a somewhat more pronounced Gothic taste than at that time as a teenager,” she names a positive influence. She has always been “interested in dark things”, but it used to be “a Disney child”. Before her role as a Wednesday Addams, she had become known through the Disney Channel-sitcom “in the middle and no escape”.

Ortega apparently misses anonymity from earlier times. “Oh, in any case,” she answers a question from The Weeknd (35) whether she lacks her. It was also nice for the drama star to “have had much less pressure”. Ortega enjoyed developing everything. “I love the hustle and bustle. The way up and the efforts of an actor had something that I really liked,” she says.

With “Wednesday” Jenna Ortega reached new heights at the end of 2022. In a few months it will also be shown in the second season of the series. Netflix released the first part of the new episodes on August 6, 2025, the second part will follow on September 3.
