Rape process of Russell Brand: Comedian rejects all allegations

Russell Brand (49) asserted his innocence in front of the Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday. The British comedian and actor confessed in all five charges that have been raised against him, the allegations weigh heavily: fire is being accused of rape, a so -called vigorously bodily harm, oral rape and two other sexual attacks.

Fire appeared in a dark suit and a buttoned shirt in court, but did not speak to the numerous reporters in front of the building. In the courtroom, Brand stood in the glass dock, confirmed his name and answered “not guilty” in each of the five charges. The media star and influencer remains at large under conditions until the start of the trial. The actual trial of Russell Brand is scheduled for June 3, 2026.

According to the police, the indictment refers to alleged events with four different women and five concrete incidents that are said to have happened between 1999 and 2005. As “The Times” reports, the investigation had already started in September 2023 after several accusations had become known in the course of a large revelation research by the Channel 4 documentary “Dispatches” and the “Sunday Times”.

In the event of a conviction, the 49-year-old threatens several years in prison. The investigators emphasize that the procedure is still open. People who are affected by the case or have relevant information are asked to report to the police. The ex-husband of pop star Katy Perry (40) has already understood several times in the past that all of his sexual relationships should have been “absolutely always mutual”.

Also in his show “Stay Free With Russell Brand” on the Rumble video platform, the entertainer vehemently contested that they have ever performed sexual actions without consent. In his detailed statement, Brand addressed that the accusations were due to alleged incidents more than 20 years ago. “At that time I must have been trapped by a kind of darkness,” he admitted, referring to his way of life that was shaped by sex, drugs and alcohol.

According to his own comedian, his own information now spoke openly about his past and his previous dealings with women. “Back then I had sex with all kinds of people,” said Brand. His celebrity had led to “women thrown towards me”, and he himself wanted nothing more than “losing endless pleasure”.

Despite these admission of his excessive life, Brand emphasized that consent was always the most important for him. The fact that he had many sexual encounters in his past does not mean that he had raped someone or sexually abused someone.

Brand announced that he wanted to work with the authorities as part of the procedure. At the same time, he indicated that the indictment could possibly be politically motivated. He suspects that he is only being charged because he has commented critically. Most recently, Brand had increasingly positioned itself as a critic of the alleged establishment and often spread controversial content on topics such as covid-19 or global political events on its various online channels. He also came out as a fan of the current US President Donald Trump (78).
