The US actress Loretta Swit died in New York. Her best-known role was that of the nurse in the military satire “M*a*s*h”-for which she won Emmys.
The US actress Loretta Swit, who was known for her long-term role in the military satire series “M*a*s*h”, is dead. According to her spokesman Harlan Boll, she died in her New York apartment. A housekeeper found Swit lifeless. The exact cause of death should be announced later. The actress was 87 years old.
She became the favorite of the television audience through her role as military nurse Major Margaret Houlihan with the nickname “Hot Lips” in the hit series “M*a*s*h”. From 1972 to 1983 she played in the black -humorous comedy about a field hospital in the Korean war alongside stars such as Alan Alda and Wayne Rogers. Swit was nominated ten times for an Emmy trophy as the best supporting actress in a comedy series, she won two awards.

Sebastião Salgado
The world -famous Brazilian photographer and activist died at the age of 81 on May 23. Salgado’s works are primarily known for their black and white compositions and were praised as excellent works by contemporary photojournalism. The German film director Wim Wenders portrayed Salgado in 2014 (together with Salgado’s son Juliano Ribeiro Salgado) in the documentary “The Salt of the Earth” nominated for the Oscar, which was awarded a César as the best documentary in France

In addition to “M*A*S*H”, Swit also had roles in television series such as “Hawaii Five-Null”, “Kobra, take over”, “smoking Colts” and “Love Boat”. On the screen she was seen in the films “Four in the Rasende coffin” (1975), “SOB – Hollywood’s last howler” (1981) and “The bomb flying” (1986).
