Helen Mirren put a great career. Even though she had refused to undergo a nose correction.
Helen Mirren (79) should undergo a nose correction as a young actress, as the Hollywood star has now revealed. Otherwise, she was told that she would never find work in her industry. The 79-year-old remembered that. Together with her colleagues Kathy Bates (76), Niecy Nash-Betts (55), Parker Posey (56), Keri Russell (49) and Cristin Milioti (39), she spoke, among other things, about beauty standards and bad advice.
“I decided not to be so pretty”
“I was told in my 20s that I should have my nose operated on,” said Helen Mirren and added: “Someone said: ‘You will never get work if you don’t do a nose operation.” Back then, she said no: “I didn’t want to be a pretty actress anyway. I decided not to be so pretty.”
Without a nose correction, Helen Mirren began her career at the theater and on the screen in the 1960s and became the world star. Over the decades, the British actress won an Academy Award, five Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, four BAFTA Awards and a Laurence Olivier Award.
Most recently, Helen Mirren put on TV productions
Helen Mirren was also appointed “Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire” (DBE) by Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). For her representation of the monarch in Stephen Freears’ (83) feature film “Die Queen”, she was awarded the best actress at the Oscar Awards in 2007. The actress, who most recently turned TV projects with “1923” and “Mobland”, was also nominated for a gold boy. Overall, she has participated in over 70 films from a wide variety of genres since the beginning of her long career.
