“Star Wars” legend Mark Hamill will probably be a part of the sci-fi saga in the future. He also explains why it should be over.
Mark Hamill (73) has already played countless roles in his life, but by many film fans he is probably not connected with any character as much as with Luke Skywalker. At the end of the 1970s he became the world star with the leading role in “War of the stars”. Among other things, he enjoys legend status in addition to the late Carrie Fisher (1956-2016, Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford (82, Han Solo). But Hamill now indirectly indicates his farewell to the “Star Wars” universe.
Mark Hamill: Better concentrate on “Star Wars” future
At least the US actor, who is also very popular for the villain’s dubbing roller in the “Batman” sign trick series, is very popular that one should let the younger generation lead. He was a screenwriter and director George Lucas (81) “so grateful that I was allowed to be there at the time, in the modest days when George ‘Star Wars’ still ‘the most expensive low-budget film that was ever shot’,” he says.
“We would never have expected that it would be a permanent franchise and such part of pop culture,” explains Hamill in retrospect. “I had my time,” explains the 73-year-old. “I appreciate that, but I really think that you should concentrate on the future and all the new characters.”
After his appearances in the “Star Wars” original trilogy, the star was also seen in the sequel trilogy. Hamill, who apparently has concluded with “Star Wars”, still cannot refrain from: “And by the way, when I am in [“Star Wars: Die letzten Jedi”] I disappeared, I left my robe back. And I will definitely not appear as a naked power spirit. “
