Mats Hummels changes the pages and becomes TV expert

A few days ago, Mats Hummels’s football career ended with a three-minute effort in the Italian league. Now a new task is waiting for the 36-year-old.
Just a few days after the end of his career as a football professional, Mats Hummels has a new job. The 2014 world champion will work for the Internet broadcaster Amazon Prime Video as a TV expert in the games of the Champions League in the coming season.
“I really want to discuss and analyze football games in front of the camera,” said Hummels. “I’m really looking forward to it.” Matthias Sammer, Christoph Kramer, Tabea Kemme and Josephine Henning continue to be part of the Prime Expert team.
The 36-year-old Hummels ended his football career in Italian series a a few days ago. He has been under contract with AS Rome since September 2024 after he left BVB at the end of the previous season.

Hummels became a total of five times German champion and three times DFB Cup winner with FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. The central defender was the top performer of the successful BVB team under coach Jürgen Klopp, who won the championship in 2011 and 2012 and also won the DFB Cup in 2012. The long-time international celebrated his greatest success in the DFB team in 2014 with the winning of the world championship title in Brazil. He scored five goals in 78 international matches.

The moderator is also new to Amazon’s football broadcasts. After the farewell to Alex Schlüter, who changes to the “Sportschau” of the ARD, the previous commentator Jonas Friedrich will take over the moderation. A new commentator is still being sought.
