Unauthorized use of 243 songs? Eminems Musikverlag sued the Meta Group of Mark Zuckerberg for copyright infringement. That could be expensive.
Eight Mile Style, the company right over the early hits of rap legend Eminem, draws to court against the meta group. The accusation is copyright infringement on a large scale. According to court documents, the music publisher calls for over $ 109 million (around 96 million euros) of the Mark Zuckerberg’s compensation.
The lawsuit submitted to Michigan on May 30 is directed against the supposedly unauthorized use of 243 Eminem songs on the platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta accuses Meta of “unauthorized storage, duplication and exploitation” the title of massive copyright infringement.
Functions such as “Original Audio” and “Reels Remix”, which should enable users to use the music without a corresponding license, are particularly targeted. The songs are said to have been appeared in videos millions of times and played – without corresponding royalties to flow to the rights holders. According to the court documents, Meta had removed a few songs after previous complaints, but allegedly still “not authorized, unlicensed copies”.
Eight Mile Style also claims that the group wanted to acquire licenses through the Audia Inc. Audiam had not given any powers of powers at all.
No direct participation of Eminem
Eight Mile Style therefore demands $ 150,000 for each of the 243 songs on each of the META platforms Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. The reason for this astronomical sum: Eminem’s songs were “among the most valuable in the world”, which is why one is “very protective towards these iconic songs”.
Eminem: 25 years in the showbiz and still not finished

The life of Marshall Bruce Mathers III was not easy until his breakthrough in the 1999 music scene. The American was born in Missouri in 1972, and his mother was just 17 years old at the time. His parents separated when he was three months old. He grew up with his mother, who, according to his statement, is said to have been violent and addicted to drugs. Eminem often moved as a child, which is why he was always the new one at school and often became a victim of bullying. When he was twelve years old, he and his mother moved to a suburb of Detroit that was shaped by crime – this experience can be found in some of his songs

The music publisher was created from the collaboration with the Bass Brothers, Eminem’s long -term production team. The company manages the rights to the songs between 1995 and 2005 – the period in which the artist landed his biggest hits. Eminem itself is not directly involved in the legal dispute.
