Michelle Obama wrote a new book about fashion that she was wearing as a first lady.
Michelle Obama (61) releases a new book: it will be about her fashion in the White House. The 61-year-old, who was first Lady during her husband’s two terms, ex-US President Barack Obama (63), wants to give readers with “The Look” an insight into the readers which outfits meant the most during this time and how she felt in it. The book will be published on November 4, 2025. In German, “The Look” appears in Prestel Verlag as a hardcover.
Michelle Obama described the book as “a reflection on my lifelong journey with fashion, hair and beauty”. Therefore, there are “some of the outfits that meant me the most, but even more important are the moments that I have experienced in them – big and small, personal and political, historical and everyday – and which were as unforgettable as the clothes themselves,” she explained about the book.
Book shows unpublished pictures
The cover picture of “The Look” shows Michelle Obama in the White House in a blue evening dress. The book will also contain more than 200 photos, including some pictures that have never been shown before. During her time as first lady, Michelle Obama became a style icon and regularly made headlines with her outfits. When she went on tour with her autobiography “Becoming”, which became an international bestseller after moving out of the White House, her fashion was again a topic of conversation.
Michelle Obama writes about a message about “The Look”: “I am grateful that I have reached a phase in my life in which I feel self -determined and free to do what I want and to wear … During our years in the white house, people have constantly commented on my appearance and dissecting my choice of clothes. This is one of the reasons why I have made this book now: It is my time that I have my way around, what I have my way around. Fashion and beauty mean for me, find it in my own words. “
