Better known for his role as Luke Skywalker, Hamill recently spoke with Comicbook, where he talked about his new movie The Life of Chuck And why it will probably not return to any Star Wars project in the future.
When saying goodbye to Luke Skywalker, Hamill said: “I’m very grateful to George [Lucas] For letting me be part of that at that time, the humble days when George called Star Wars ‘the lowest -face -ever made budget movie.’ “
“We never hope it would become a permanent franchise and be part of pop culture that way. But the truth is that I had my chance. I appreciate it, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters“
Hamill joked, referring to Luke’s “death” The last Jedi From 2017: “And, by the way, when I disappeared, I left my robe. And in no way I will appear as a ghost of the naked force.”
Mark Hamill’s most recent appearances in the Star Wars universe
After the last Jedi, Skywalker appeared in Skywalker’s rise of 2019, although as a ghost of force. A younger version of the character, although only with Hamill’s voice, later appeared in episodes of The Mandalorian and Boba Fett’s book. The events of these series passed before The Force Awakens and its sequelae.
Hamill’s decision marks the end of an era for Star Wars. Since his debut in 1977 as the young Tatooine farmer who becomes Jedi, Luke Skywalker has become a cultural icon. Its evolution throughout the trilogies has been fundamental for the narrative of the saga. Now, with its farewell, the door opens to new stories and characters that will continue to expand the universe created by George Lucas.
