“Star Wars” no longer looked at since 1977

Mark Hamill has said to have seen “Star Wars: a new hope” since the premiere in 1977.

Mark Hamill (73) causes a sensation in the “Star Wars” fan base with a surprising confession. The legendary Luke Skywalker actor has not watched his first film of the epic space saga since its premiere 47 years ago.

“I haven’t seen him since his appearance,” said Hamill on Friday. “My sons look at him – Nathan in particular is a big fan. I saw him when he came out and just don’t look at him again.”

No nostalgia for your own works

The actor made it clear that he generally does not like to see his own films again. “I am not one of those who say: ‘Hey, let us watch one of my films!'”, Joked Hamill. This attitude is all the more surprising because “Star Wars” not only shaped his career, but also became one of the most successful franchises in film history.

Hamill embodied Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and later returned for the sequel films. His character ended in “The Last Jedi” in 2017, even if he was again seen as a ghostly appearance in “the promotion of Skywalker”.

Future without Luke Skywalker

Despite his death, Hamill does not categorically exclude a return as a hatch. But “I think I had my time” on the occasion of his new film “The Life of Chuck”. “I am really grateful to have been part of it, but I think the focus should be on the future and the new projects and the new people.”

Hamill knows little about the upcoming “Starfighter” film in the “Star Wars” universe and is not involved. However, he looks forward to seeing Ryan Gosling (44) in the leading role: “I also like his humor.”
