Carlo von Tiedemann: Moderator legend died at the age of 81

Great grief around Carlo von Tiedemann (1943-2025). The moderator died in Hamburg on June 8th at the age of 81. The NDR announced this, for which Carlo von Tiedemann worked for many years. Since 1971 he has worked for both radio and television for North German Radio.

“Carlo left us at 2:30 p.m.,” confirms. In the end, it was “great redemption” for the cult moderator: “His children and I have been with him in the past few days, held his hand. He just stopped breathing.”

“If the term ‘NDR veteran’ applies to a person, then it is Carlo von Tiedemann,” Joachim Knuth (66), director of the broadcasting institution, is cited in a message. “With his flippant, spontaneous and warm manner, he inspired several generations and was undisputed by the end of our absolute crowd lovers,” it continues. The deceased was owed to a lot and Carlo von Tiedemann’s death was “a bitter loss”.

As a reporter, Carlo von Tiedemann came to the NDR radio in 1971. He led through “the current Schaubude” from 1976 and later again from 1997. The “NDR QuizShow” or programs such as “Carlos Koch-Chaos” and “Carlo and Wigald on Kur” included several years. He always remained loyal to the radio and he was in front of the camera for some films and series. For example, he was a guest in the “Großstadtrevier” several times, played in “Stubbe – from case to case” or in the “crime scene”.
