Prince Andrew settles with plaintiff Virginia Giuffre

Prince Andrew has reached an agreement with Virginia Giuffre. The decision comes as a surprise because the royal actually wanted to defend himself in court.

British Prince Andrew, who is facing a civil lawsuit over allegations of abuse, has reached an agreement in principle with US plaintiff Virginia Giuffre on a settlement.

This emerges from a court document from Tuesday, which is available to the German Press Agency. For the royal family, the decision should mean a sigh of relief. In the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, a public trial would have commanded the attention of the public that can be returned to the Queen.

It is also to be expected that the negotiated agreement will mean that Virginia Giuffre will no longer be allowed to talk about the royal in the future. That should also please Andrew himself and his family members. The comparison is likely to be expensive, but it prevents the process.

The royal needed money

“He’s paying for all his own expenses, so he has to find money quickly to pay the ever-growing bills,” an insider recently told The Mirror. Andrew received no financial support from his mother, the Queen. This is one of the reasons why the sale of his luxury property in Switzerland was recently discussed.

The ski chalet in Verbier should bring Andrew around 17 million pounds. He and ex-wife Fergie bought it in 2014 for £16.6million. It is not known whether he was able to get rid of it in the meantime. Virginia Giuffre accuses the Royal of sexual abuse. Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied Giuffre’s allegations against him. Because of the allegations and his previous contacts with the convicted sex offender Epstein, however, he gave up his royal duties and largely withdrew from the public.
