While Macklemore appeared in Ireland, his house in Seattle was attacked. The perpetrators attacked the nanny with pepper spray.
The property of Grammy winner Macklemore (41) in Seattle was the scene of a brutal robbery in the early Saturday morning (June 7). According to the police report of the Seattle Police Department, two masked men entered the house in the noble Capitol Hill Quarter via a terrace door, while the “Thrift Shop” interpreter was for concerts in Ireland.
The dramatic events started shortly before 1 a.m. when the family’s nanny had brought the three children – the daughters Sloane (10) and Colette (7) and son Hugo (3). Suddenly she saw two men penetrate through the unlocked terrace door.
Bear spray attack
What followed then, the police report describes in terrifying details: The burglars immediately sprayed bear spray in the face of the woman and shouted: “Where are the jewels, bitch?” Paradoxically, one of the perpetrators helped her clean her burning eyes before led the two into the rapper’s bedroom.
There, the criminals systematically searched drawers, cupboards and the walk-in wardrobe full of designer clothes, jewelry and shoes. They captured objects worth thousands of dollars, including valuable watches and jewelry.
The situation continued to escalate when the woman was thrown to the ground and the perpetrators took her cell phone. “The nanny began to scream, so they grabbed them and pressed them against a wall, with the smaller one of them holding her mouth,” says the police report. In a desperate attempt to exemption, she bit his hand vigorously and fled.
Politically motivated background?
The nanny knocked on several doors in the neighborhood until someone let them in and she could call the police. During her emergency call, she also explained to the officials that the house belonged to “a high -ranking personality” and that she believes that the crime could “have been motivated for political reasons”.
This guess is not surprising: Macklemore, a bourgeois name Ben Haggerty, vehemently campaigned for Palestine in recent months and published the politically charged song “F ** Ked Up” in February. He donated all income to the Unrwa USA organization.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the house in “obvious disorder”, the children were unharmed. The perpetrators are still on the run.
A spokesman Macklemores has not yet responded to inquiries from the press. During his Ireland tour, the rapper himself did not post statements about the incident on his social media channels.
