According to his lawyer, R. Kelly does not feel safe in prison and wants to switch to house arrest.
A lawyer of R. Kelly (58) submitted an urgent application to remedy of prison: the convicted sex offender is to be moved from the federal prayer to the house arrest because his life is in danger. According to June 10, three prison officers are said to have commissioned a fellow inmate to kill Kelly. The musician is currently serving a prison sentence of several years because of the sexual exploitation of minors.
Laid for the order in Kelly’s prison?
Under these circumstances, the detention is a “cruel and unusual punishment,” emphasizes his lawyer. The urgent application claims that three officials from the Bureau of Prison have made a plan to have the musician murdered by a fellow inmate. The court file also contains an explanation of this prisoner: According to this, he was asked to carry out the murder during his time in the US prison in Tucson (Arizona) by three senior officials.
He had previously been instructed by a prison officer to “arrange attacks, blows and killings of prisoners”. As a long -time member of the notorious Aryan Brotherhood, he had to commission the authority to commission “strokes, knife stabbing and executions” – carried out by other members of the racist gait.
After receiving the order to kill R. Kelly, he was moved across the United States to the Federal Correctional Institute Butner in North Carolina – the same facility in which the former pop star served his punishment. There he was finally accommodated in the same unit as Kelly.
After his arrival in prison, an official came up to him and said: “You have to do what you came for.” He was promised to be able to flee after the order was carried out to spend his last months in freedom. This offer was very appealing to him – at that time he was diagnosed with cancer in the final stage.
Singer defends himself against any allegations
R. Kelly was convicted of severe sexual crimes in several processes – including sexual abuse, child pornography and the exploitation of minors. In 2022 the singer received a prison sentence of 20 years. In another process, R. Kelly was sentenced to an additional 30 years in prison in the same year. He is allowed to serve the majority of his punishments in parallel, and he has to spend a total of around 31 years in prison. Kelly still denies all allegations and failed several times with applications for appeals.
