Why do teenagers of today also like the 1980s? Pop alet champion Lionel Richie knows an answer.
Lione Richie (75), one of the biggest pop stars in the 80s, has an explanation of why the decade is so popular for young people. “Do you know why this is? I will use a word that may sound a little strange: substance,” says the US singer (“All Night Long”, “Dancing on the Ceiling”) in the current edition of the “Zeit Magazins”.
“Back then, if you interviewed someone, you asked:” Why did you write this song? “Today 14 people wrote the song, and the artist is only the singer. At that time the singer was able to tell the story about the song and his origin,” Richie explains his thoughts.
“Or the question:” Why are you wearing this outfit? “But we used to wear no outfits,” says Richie. “That’s how we looked. Madonna looked like Madonna. Prince like Prince. And Michael Jackson like Michael Jackson. They were not an actor, they were what they were.”
To date, an attempt has been made to copy the authenticity of the fashion of this era. “But everything was real. It was not a funny gimmick, but everyone expressed their creativity.”
