Helen Hunt received a lifetime Achievement Award for her impressive acting career at the Taormina Film Festival.
Reunion with Helen Hunt (61): The Oscar winner was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 71st Taormina Film Festival in Italy. The 61-year-old actress appeared on Thursday in an elegant Neckholder dress with a flower pattern for the gala event in the Teatro Antico of the Sicilian city of Taormina-her first official Red Carpet appearance for several months.
Impressive record: an Oscar, four Golden Globes, four Emmys
The award recognizes Hunts impressive career, which has extended over several decades and crowned with numerous prestigious prices. In her career, she collected an Academy Award, four Golden Globe Awards and four Emmy Awards – a balance that only a few artists can show.
“It is an honor for us to welcome Helen Hunt in Taormina,” said Tiziana Rocca, the artistic director of the festival. “Her presence is a bridge between the great international cinema and the eternal beauty of our country. With its elegance, its versatile talent and her artistic durability, Helen embodies the values that our festival wants to celebrate: passion, commitment and love for cinematic telling.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award is “a warm and well -deserved homage to an artist who can inspire generations of spectators and colleagues,” continued Rocca. With this award, Hunt is part of an illustrious list of award winners, which also includes directorial Martin Scorsese (82), Hollywood star Michael Douglas (80) and the French film icon Catherine Deneuve (81) this year.
“Crazy for you” she made her a TV star
Hunt celebrated her biggest triumph in 1998 when she won both the Oscar and the Golden Globe as the best leading actress for her unforgettable role in the romantic comedy “It couldn’t be better”. On the side of Jack Nicholson (88) and Greg Kinnear (61) she embodied a waitress in the film who completely turns the life of a compulsive writer upside down.
But Hunt not only left her traces on the big screen with film hits like “Twister” (1996) or “Cast Away” (2000). Her role in the long -standing comedy series “Crazy for you” (“Mad about You”), which ran from 1992 to 1999, was particularly formative. In the show about a New York couple, Hunt demonstrated her comedic talent and was rewarded with three Golden Globe Awards. The series made it one of the most famous faces of American television in the 90s.
She made itself rare
In recent years, however, Hunt has been much less likely to be seen on the screen or on TV. The actress, which was once so present, has largely withdrawn from the spotlight and only takes a sporadic film projects. Most recently, she was seen in three episodes of the “Hacks” comedy series, which has often been made by Emmy and Golden Globe. The 61-year-old is rarely a guest on the red carpet.
