Carl Philip and Sofia – from the scandal couple to the royal flamed family

They showed it to all critics: Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are already celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary. The relationship, which once seemed so scandalous, has obviously developed into a stable marriage. Instead of negative headlines, Carl Philip and his wife offer Swedish family idyll: After three sons, they were also able to welcome a daughter in February-and regularly delight Royal fans with sweet children’s photos on selected occasions.

The start of her love was anything but easy. Carl Philip, who always stood something in the shadow of his sister Crown Princess Victoria, was considered a “racing driver prince”, who prefers to spend his time with motorsport and photography. When it became known that he loved a bourgeois woman with a disreputable past, the scandal was perfect.

His chosen one, Sofia Hellqvist, had financed her studies with model. Among other things, she also posed as an erotic model for the men’s magazine “Slitz”. In addition, she was looking for great love on the reality TV show “Paradise Hotel”. This did not seem exactly to be in terms of a member of the royal family. But Sofia put an almost fairytale transformation for her prince and learned in a princess school that was established for her, which is important for her future role. She had her tattoos removed and founded a charity for South African street children.

In the meantime, the skeptical voices have long since fallen silent. Sofia has proven that she can princess. It was pure coincidence that she met Carl Philip at all. In summer 2009 she was eating with friends in the same restaurant in Båstad like the Royal. The engagement followed in June 2014, a year later the dream wedding in the castle church of Stockholm. 400 guests – including high -ranking members of other European royal houses – pursued the romantic yes. Sofia looked like a real princess in her wedding dress of the Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt: the Bohème look dress has a lot of tip, long sleeves and a meter-long train.

Exactly where they sealed their love, there will be the next big family event ten years later: Carl Philip and Sofia return to their wedding location with their little princess. Ines, who was born on February 7, is baptized on June 13th. The top court chaplain, bishop Johan Dalman, and pastor of the royal court assembly, court chaplain Michael Bjerkhagen, are to lead the ceremony. After that, the royal family will organize a reception for invited guests and a private lunch, it said in advance.

Ines is the fourth child of the couple and the only daughter after Prince Alexander (9), Prince Gabriel (8) and Prince Julian (4). The renewed pregnancy was apparently also a surprise for Sofia itself, as she showed through in the “Vogue” interview shortly before her 40th birthday. She and her husband were “satisfied” with three children, the fourth described them as a “bonus” for a family happiness.
