The new edition of the ORF casting show “Starmania” begins on March 4th with the first of two qualifying shows. 14 young singers compete to succeed last year’s winner Anna Buchegger from Salzburg.
Of the 28 candidates, only two come from Upper Austria. 15-year-old Valentina Thoms from Altmünster will present herself on March 4th. “I’ve wanted to be on a big stage for a long time and make an impression with my voice. I love the stage very much,” says the student.
A week later, Katharina Satzinger sings about promotion to the first final round. Her participation was spontaneous: “I regularly sing in public in a big band and a brass band, but not on such big stages,” says the 20-year-old medical student from St. Marien.
The singer Josh is a fixed member of the jury. Lili Paul-Roncalli – artist, model and girlfriend of tennis ace Dominik Thiem – will sit next to him. The third place on the jury changes weekly. Among others, Marco Wanda and Melissa Naschenweng will evaluate the performances of the singers.
The rules of “Starmania 22” have been slimmed down. In the two qualifying shows there are seven climbers in the first final round. The moderation is again in the hands of Arabella Kiesbauer.
