TV star, lifecoach, triple father: Peer Kusmagk has already experienced a lot. On June 14th he will be 50 – and it goes on turbulent.

The decades so far were anything but boring for Peer Kusmagk (50): the TV star, who once played “good times, bad times” and should still be known to many people as a moderator of the “Sat.1 breakfast television”, has already tried several fields. For some years now, it has become a bit quieter for him because he mainly focuses on his family with three small children. But standstill is not for the jack of all.

Moderation duo with his first wife

Acting, moderation in TV and radio, a restaurant in Berlin or a song with a buddy: Peer Kusmagk is not afraid to break new ground. In a double pack with his then wife Charlotte Karlinder (50) he made a name for himself as a breakfast television presenter in 2004 and 2005. However, putting work and private life was probably not the best – after a few months, the couple preferred to moderate in various teams because of a “relationship crisis”, shortly afterwards the private separation took place in mid -2005.

After this turbulent relationship, Kusmagk opened a French restaurant in Berlin. Here, too, it was not possible. “La Raclette” was destroyed in 2010 by a fire triggered by a cable fire and had to be renovated. Seven years later, the moderator then said goodbye to this project, which he led in addition to his job at the radio station 94.3 RS2: “An emotional moment,” Kusmagk told the “BZ” at the time. But: “I can’t dance at all weddings. The restaurant was not just a lifelong dream, but a full-time job.”

And, as he later made public in an interview with “Bild”, the catering was also led to alcoholism. “From a certain point I couldn’t do without alcohol”. He had “drunk every day” – up to three bottles of wine in the evening. The RTL jungle camp, in which he noticed in 2011 as a team player, Sarah Knappik (38) defended against the group’s bullying and finally won the crown, was apparently an important step into a dry future: “For the first time, I became aware that my thoughts about alcohol was created when it was not available.” It was not until 2014 that he did a three -month withdrawal in a clinic. “A brutal but very healing time.”

With Ü40 he discovered his next major role: that of the family man

Another important step was to separate the restaurant – and now Kusmagk had also founded a family. Of course, it also went somewhat unconventional than others: In the nude show “Adam is looking for Eva – stranded in paradise” it immediately sparked with surfing Janni Hönscheid (34). Then everything went quite quickly. The wedding took place a year later. Son Emil Ocean was born in early August 2017, in July 2019 daughter Yoko was born, in September 2021 son Merlin was followed.

The now 50-year-old did not come to rest through his family. They like to be on the go, travel a lot and have already moved several times. After a while in Mallorca, where Kusmagk became Lifecoach, the family moved to Denmark in 2024. There he renovated an old farm for a year.

Farewell to the courtyard is imminent

The house is now almost finished – and the family seems to move on again. Janni Hönscheid recently announced the sale of the farm. It is “probably the most sensible option” in view of the internal development and “many circumstances with us that we have not intended”. There are private reasons for this. “Life is change and even if it is still a painful thought, you sometimes have to make decisions in life.” Wherever it goes, it is not yet known. But one thing is certain: it will not be boring in the future at Peer Kusmagk and his gang.
