The musician and composer Charly Garcia will be distinguished with a Honoris Causa Doctorate of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA)the maximum honorary award of the institution, reserved for high -impact figures in different fields.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters had presented the initiative that was finally approved by the Superior Council of the UBA. The news was celebrated by both the educational community and by cultural and artistic sectors. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Dean of the Institution, Ricardo Manetti, said the proposal was born from the Department of Arts, in the context of the recent inclusion of the chair that bears the same name, directed by Lisa Di Cone. Manetti stressed the relevance of Garcia As a fundamental figure in Argentine and Latin American music, emphasizing the impact of its letters at crucial moments for the country.
