A year ago, the French actor is said to have started on one of Italy’s most prominent paparazzi. He denies the allegations. Now the judiciary is concerned.
A month after the conviction for sexual assault in his home country of France, actor Gérard Depardieu has to answer again in court – this time in Italy. The 76-year-old is said to have beaten a photographer who wanted to take pictures of him together with a companion in a celebrity meeting in Rome. The actor (“The Last Metro”, “Asterix and Obelix”) rejects the allegations.
The background is a dispute in the “Harry’s Bar” in May last year. The photographer Rino Barillari – one of Italy’s best known paparazzi – claims that Depardieu threw him with a bucket full of ice cubes and then hit him in the face several times. Injuries were later seen on the left temple of the 80-year-old. Barillari had made a name for herself decades ago with photos of celebrities.
Photographer demands sorry
Depardieu’s companion in turn claims that the photographer touched her and had “very violent”. Barillari told the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” (Tuesday): “I’m not doing anyone. Especially not the person to take pictures.” He is sorry for the whole incident, but at least he wanted an official excuse. Depardieu’s lawyer announced to the dpa that he would submit a lawsuit on the name of the woman on Tuesday.
According to information on both sides, neither the actor nor the photographer will be present at the appointment in the afternoon. Depardieu had been sentenced to 18 months in paris in parish in Paris. It was about sexual harassment when filming a film 2021. The court owed Depardieu to have touched an outfitter and a director’s assistant.
