Boris Becker will report in detail in “Inside” about his time in custody. The book cover also indicates this, which he now revealed.
Boris Becker (57) has unveiled the cover of his new book. Half of his face can be seen on it. The work is entitled “Inside” with the addition “Win – Losing – Start again” and will be released on September 10th at Ullstein.
The former tennis star also reveals that the book is the most personal he has ever done. “It is a reflection on one of the hardest experiences in my life – including my time in prison – and everything that came before and after.” He wrote “about the triumph and the failures”, says Becker, and about “what it means to really start when you reach the low point”.
The cover also indicates the time in prison: “A2923ev”, Boris Becker’s former prisoner number, is under the book title. In April 2022, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the allegation of insolvency crimes. For around seven months of it he sat down in the prisons Wandsworth and Huntercombe.
In his book, according to the publisher, he describes his life behind bars, “from the brutal reality in two of the toughest prisons in England to new friendships and unexpected lessons in terms of resilience that brightened his life”. Becker also tells of the decisions that have led him to prison, “reflects his mistakes and the price of fame”. He also describes how he begins to rebuild his life and reputation through “new relationships, hard -learned survival techniques and the philosophy of stoicism”.
“One of the most painful experiences of my life”
At the first announcement of “Inside” in March: “Last year I allowed myself to dive deeply into one of the most painful experiences of my life. I was confronted with memories that I would rather forget, with nightmares that are still pursuing me, and with feelings that I didn’t know if I would survive. It was my attempt to heal and find a way to give the whole thing.” Now he was ready to share what has been experienced and suffered with his readers.
After serving his prison sentence, it recently seemed to only go up for the 57-year-old. In addition to new professional challenges such as TV appearances and a podcast, his wedding with Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro made his private happiness perfect. She had also assisted him in the time of his detention. The couple said yes in September 2024 in Portofino, Italy.
