The Austrian author Elfriede Jelinek has a strange experience for the second time: a false report about her death has been spread on the Internet.

Numerous German-language news portals reported, citing an alleged notification from Rowohlt publishing house in online service X that the writer died at the age of 78. In conversation with the AFP news agency, Jelinek reacted with dry humor.

“Oh, again? It’s the second time that I’m dead,” said the author AFP. “Has already happened last year. I live,” she added. Rowohlt spokeswoman Nora Gottschalk also announced that it was a “false report”. She did not provide information on how this came about.
