According to US reports, the detained singer R. Kelly spent two days in a clinic. An overdose was administered to him.
R. Kelly (58) sits behind bars because of severe sex crimes. Recently there had been reports that the singer feared for his life. Last weekend he is said to have spent two days in a hospital, as US media now unanimously write. He had previously been given an overdose of medication.
Lawyers of the singer claim that he had taken over an overdose last week that had been given to him by the prison staff, citing existing court documents.
Singe, overdose, hospital
According to the lawyer’s team, R. Kelly was initially moved to solitary confinement – apparently against his will. There he received medication for sleep and anxiety disorders. The prison staff gave the singer an overdose compared to his conventional dose on June 12th. The 58-year-old then felt weak and dizzy on the morning of June 13th.
R. Kelly crawled to the door of the prison cell and lost awareness there. Since he could not be helped on site, according to an application submitted by the lawyers, the singer was brought to the Duke University Hospital in Durham, in the US state of North Carolina. He spent two days there. He is now back in prison against medical advice.
R. Kelly wants to be pardoned by Donald Trump
In a statement by Kelly’s lawyer of June 17, a “murder complement” arises against the singer. According to the report, the 58-year-old team had already appealed to US President Donald Trump (79) of pardoning R. Kelly. “President Trump may be the only person who can save R. Kelly’s life,” says the message.
Last week, one of R. Kelly’s lawyers had already submitted an urgent request to remedy in prison – on the grounds that the convicted sex offender feared for his life. Kelly should be relocated to the house arrest. According to the application of June 10, three prison officers are said to have given another prisoner to kill the singer.
R. Kelly, who denies the allegations, was guilty in several trials for serious sex crimes in 2021 and 2022 and later sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison. Since he is allowed to serve a large part of his punishments in parallel, he should spend around 31 years in prison.
