On June 19, the visit is coming up, on July 1, the hammer falls: Karl Lagerfelds Villa near Paris is for sale. He is said to have only spent one night there.
Who knew that the fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld had his former children’s room set up in a luxury villa near Paris? Velvet Leopard wallpaper and a painting that shows the Prussian king Friedrich with a ruffle shirt. It is located in a neoclassical villa in the green, a good hour west of Paris. The 600 square meter building in Louveciennes is to be auctioned on July 1st, on Thursday potential buyers can visit the extensive property.
“He only slept in the bathhouse for one night, but he was inspired here for his work and used the villa for receptions,” said the notary Arno Felber according to French media reports. The value of the villa is estimated at 4.6 million euros.
Lagerfeld was already 81 years old when he bought the villa built in the middle of the 19th century and had his idiosyncratic taste redesigned – a luxurious retreat if it was too tight in his three Paris apartments.
Karl Lagerfeld created his cat Choupette his own spout
In the extensive garden, he had a pool with a pool house, a tennis court, a double -storey guest house and a library in which he accommodated part of his approximately 20,000 books. His cat Choupette, which he regarded as his muse, got his own run.
The kitchen allegedly redesigned the kitchen three times until he liked it: according to media reports, she had five sinks, four ovens and a deep fryer. Of course there was also a wine cellar and a cargo elevator.
A report by the architecture magazine “AD” showed the facility at that time in 2023: In the entrance hall, two antique -looking statues flanked the door to the reception room, which was equipped with Art Nouveau furniture. In a room there was a German advertising poster from 1910: “Shifter soap is the best”.
French book classic with gold cut
The fashion tsar sometimes stacked his books horizontally on the shelves. In one of the bedrooms, the collected classics of world literature stood from the renowned Pléiade series with a leather cover and gold cut.
The Lagerfeld born in Hamburg died in 2019 at the age of 85. He had shaped the Paris fashion world since the early 1950s and had become famous with his spectacular fashion shows.
His name is closely connected to the Chanel brand, and he also developed his own brand. Since his death, objects from Lagerfeld’s estate had been auctioned several times, including his 260-square-meter apartment on the Seine, who changed hands last year for ten million euros.
