A few days after her serious riding accident and an operation, Crown Princess Amalia reported back during an appearance.

She has just had a serious injury, but Crown Princess Amalia (21) shows how much strength and a sense of duty there is. After a serious riding accident, according to which the oldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander (58) and Queen Máxima (54) fell so hard that an operation was needed on the same day, she now returned to the public surprisingly quickly. On Wednesday, the Dutch heir to the throne was already on the side of her father at an official appointment in Amersfoort.

In a good mood, with a bright smile and in a summer red dress as well as the color-matching high heels, Amalia showed up in the Prinz-Bernhard barracks-even though a bandage on the hand and an arm loop showed still unmistakable traces of the accident. Her father had recently spoken of “severe pain” from which the 21-year-old suffered.

Together with King Willem-Alexander, she took part in the ceremonial handover of the new standard to the Huzar Prince Catharina-Amalia regiment-the regiment that bears her own name. The fact that the young princess took part in the appointment despite the fresh injury and surely still ongoing pain caused greater respect among the soldiers and guests: Many took the opportunity for a short conversation with the crown princess, which was open and warm and did not show their hardships.

Accident was only a few days ago

The Dutch palace had already announced Amalia’s first appointment after the accident and the operation at the beginning of the week. The crown princess had broken the upper arm on June 10 when the horse falls. Then she was operated on in the UMC Utrecht and stayed in the clinic for a few days. Due to the hospital stay, the traditional summer photo shoot of the family in the Huis Ten Bosch Palace was also postponed: it will now take place on June 30th.
