Jonathan Bailey: This is how it is about his future at “Bridgerton”

Jonathan Bailey (37) is currently in the middle of the promotional tour for his new blockbuster “Jurassic World: The Return”. But even in interviews, there is still a lot of things about the Netflix hits series “Bridgerton”, in which he inspires fans as Anthony Bridgerton. In an interview, the actor has now talked about what his future is about.

Difficult to present: Jonathan Bailey almost would not have become part of the success format. In 2018, when the casting for “Bridgerton” took place, he was about to reject the offer. “I got the request and almost didn’t apply,” said Bailey. At that time he was still in the middle of the rehearsals and performances for the musical “Company”, which had taken him full for six months.

“I was really through at the time. I needed a break from the acting first.” First of all, he even read for the role of the Duke, which was later taken over by Regé-Jean Page. Finally, he convinced the producers in conversation and got the role of the oldest bridger tone brother Anthony.

Bailey says about the filming that started shortly before the global Pandemie Lockdown: “If you are involved in a production like ‘Bridgerton’ and say goodbye to friends and family, it takes you completely.” In an interview, he recently read, as actor Walton Goggins said that he was glad that a huge hit like “White Lotus” did not happen to him ten years earlier – at that time he would not have known how to deal with it. “I felt the same way with ‘Bridgerton’,” admits Bailey. “It came a little faster than I was ready.” Back in the theater and at familiar projects, he found ground under his feet again.

Bailey cannot imagine that he could turn his back completely to the Netflix series one day: “I was never anyone who says: ‘Thank you and bye.’ That is not in my nature, “he emphasizes. “I feel a real, fraternal pride.”

At the same time, he was aware that there can be seasons in the future, in which there is less space for his figure for reasons of schedule or from a dramaturgical point of view. “But I will continue to support my cast college: in any case,” said Bailey. From his own experience, he knows how important constancy and familiar figures are in long series: “I love long -lasting series and know how important it is for the audience that characters and stories develop.”

Bailey will definitely be there for the coming fourth season, the shooting is currently underway. n The successful series of success produced by Shonda Rhimes, which is based on the novels by Julia Quinn, every season revolves around the love story of a Bridgerton siblings in the London Regency Age. After the mega success of the first three seasons, the fans are already looking forward to the new episodes. How many seasons there will be overall is still officially open – the books offer fabric for at least eight seasons.

And Bailey himself also dreams of one day being able to look back on a long series of series of series of series serial: “I am looking forward to sitting together with everyone in a few years – maybe after eight seasons – seeing what we have created together.”
