Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel fought successfully for their great love. On June 19, 2025, they celebrate the 15th anniversary of the marriage.
“You gave me my prince.” With this legendary sentence, Crown Princess Victoria (47) thanked June 19, 2010 from the castle balcony at the Swedish people for her husband. Because her loved one was born as a bourgeois – which is why there were concerns at the beginning whether he would be the right partner for a future queen. Above all, Victoria’s father, King Carl XVI. Gustaf (79), is said to have been anything but happy about the connection with the fitness trainer.
But Victoria remained persistent and finally prevailed. At the wedding everyone could see how happy she is with her Daniel. And 15 years and two children later the couple still forms a firm and harmonious unit. Daniel has worked into his role as a prince and has long since convinced the last doubter that he will support his royal wife perfectly and will also give a good figure as a future queen.
A love like in a fairy tale
The love story of the two reads almost like a romantic series: the crown princess met the then fitness trainer Daniel Westling in his gym. At that time, Victoria had just had her anorexia and a stay in the USA. Her younger sister Princess Madeleine (43) took her to his “Balance” studio and he became her personal trainer.
Daniel, born in the provincial city of Örebro, comes from a simple background. His father was a civil servant in the municipal social welfare office, the mother posted. It was not predetermined that he would become a prince and the man of the future queen. Even after he met Victoria, it didn’t look like love at first. The relationship is said to have developed slowly. This foundation may be the secret of your marriage. “Maybe it didn’t click, but Daniel and I had a very nice and well -founded friendship. We were very close friends before and it was a friendship that has grown and turned into love,” said Victoria when the engagement announced on February 24, 2009.
It took eight years to this day. “I definitely needed this time to adapt and understand what this is about,” emphasized Daniel. “It would be naive from me to fell on my knees after a year and make a marriage proposal, I think that would have been a failure.” He certainly had to prepare for his future role – and above all convince Victoria’s father.
Daniel worked hard to become a good prince
As is well known, he did that successfully. And also proved by all over the world that he is the perfect man for Victoria. Daniel did a lot for this: he learned an extra salon -capable English and the courtly manner, gave up his work in the sports studio and put himself in the service of the crown. In appearances, he lovingly supports the crown princess, which is obviously blossoming at his side and, after the severe anorexia phase, found joy in her responsible work again. Daniel has long since developed his own profile, prefers to rely on sporting charity events and can thus contribute his previous experiences for the work of the royal family.
Together with their two children – Princess Estelle (13) and Prince Oscar (9) – they form a royal model family without scandals. King Carl Gustaf and his wife Queen Silvia (81) can be sure that one day they will have worthy successors.
