Prince William: performance with Hollywood star Cate Blanchett

When Prince William appears on appointments, this usually attracts attention. But at his latest appearance in Norwich, the 42-year-old had a very special companion at his side: Hollywood star Cate Blanchett (56). The Oscar-winning Australian accompanied the Prince of Wales on Thursday to visit Colorifix, a British biotechnology company.

The duo toured through the company’s laboratories and had every step of the innovative coloring process used by Colorifix. They learned how the company identifies the DNA code that produces pigments and how the color fluid is bound to fabrics. Both were particularly impressed by the fact that the process saves water, energy and carbon emissions with every step.

Colorifix was in 2023 finalist of the Earthshot Prize launched by William in the “Build a Waste Free World” category (in German: “A world without waste”). The company relies on DNA sequencing and the natural colors of nature to develop sustainable dyes. The water and chemical consumption in the fashion industry can therefore be significantly reduced. In contrast, acting star Blanchett is a member of the Earthshot Prize Council and accompanied King Charles (76 )’s son in this function for the company tour.

The Earthshot Prize follows five environmental goals – the so -called “Earthshots” – which are to be reached by 2030 to improve life for everyone. The program launched in 2020 runs over ten years. With each ceremony, five winners receive one million pounds for financing their groundbreaking work and access to leading experts and mentors.

According to “Daily Express”, Prince William himself emphasized the urgency of the action: “We have cleared too many trees, burned too much fossil fuels and produced too much waste. The damage we do is no longer creeping, but exponentially, and we quickly approach a tipping point.”
