paramount came close to bringing this cast back once before: in 2018, S J Clarkson (“Jessica Jones”) had signed on to direct a sequel that would have reunited Pine’s Kirk with his late father, played by Chris Hemsworth repeating their 2009 performance at “Star Trek”. However, that film never materialized after Paramount reportedly failed to close a deal with Pine and Hemsworth.
