He is missing from his own fashion show
Giorgio Armani is missing from the Milan Fashion Week for the first time. The designer is currently recovering at home, it is officially said.
It is the first time that Giorgio Armani misses one of his fashion shows. On Friday, various media report that the designer will not take part in two of his catwalk shows as part of the Milan fashion week. Armani “is currently recovering at home”, according to the fashion house in a short explanation, which, however, contained no further details about his health.
The designer, who turns 91 on July 11th, will neither be present on the Giorgio Armani show on Saturday for the presentation of the spring/summer collection 2026 on Saturday. The absence of the fashion house founder had never occurred during his career. The company is celebrating the 50th anniversary this year.
“Although he cannot be present personally, he will watch every phase of the view carefully,” said the explanation from which among other things cited. His long -time employee and chief designer for men’s fashion, Leo Dell’orco, will instead give traditional closure at the end of the show. The message of the fashion house also emphasizes that Armani has “worked on the new collections with his usual dedication”.
What about his health?
Since Giorgio Armani is known for his indispensable work morality, fans and industry experts are equally worried. The Armani, who was considered a perfectionist, of course spent his 9th birthday in the studio. At his first live show after the pandemic locks, Armani even showed himself with a long scar from an operation on his left arm in June 2021, which he had contracted in a fall. Despite his physical restriction, he managed to participate in the preparations for the men’s fashion show and for an Armani-Prive couture collection.
About his motivation he said in 2024 in one: “To have created a style that everyone immediately recognizes, gives me the feeling of having created something that I can be proud of. The fact that my work had such a strong and noticeable influence on the daily life of people is a great work. And a great incentive.” He does not rest on the laurels, but “always looks ahead and I am still happy about challenges”.
