The prison stay was “the most evil experience”
Heiner Lauterbach looks back on his “evil” prison experience at a young age, which “had” helped “incredibly.
Actor Heiner Lauterbach (72) has long since left his alcohol and drug problems. In an interview with the “Bild am Sonntag”, he looks back on his wild phase, which included a prison stay several weeks in the early 1970s.
Heiner Lauterbach: Knast taught him humility
In Neu-Delhi he had to go behind bars due to around four kilograms of hashish. The time in prison was the “evil experience” in his life. “But I wouldn’t want to save myself that. She helped me incredibly, regarding my whole life.” If he only feels the smallest dissatisfied thoughts today, “then I think back to the jail and I’m wonderful. I would never complain about a bad hotel room while filming or a theater tour. Everything is pure luxury against the cell in Delhi.”
In his later fight against his addiction problems, wife Viktoria (52), with him since 2001, was an important support. “I wouldn’t have done it without Viktoria,” the drama star looks back. “It wasn’t overnight, there were some setbacks. Both alcohol and smoking.” Smoking was actually even heavier than the alcohol withdrawal, says Lauterbach. But his wife brought the necessary rigor. “Viktoria is mercilessly. As made for addicts. Incredibly consistent. With a relentless passion and rigor, which I naturally approved. Otherwise it doesn’t work. You can’t force an adult. I wanted to become another person.”
His existence as a father has also changed over the years, says Lauterbach, who with ex-wife Katja Flint (65) son Oscar Lauterbach (37) and with Viktoria Lauterbach daughter Maya (22) and son Vito (18). As a young father, he was only concentrated on himself. “It was different with Maya and Vito.” He worked up a lot with son Oscar and was closely connected to him today. “He now clearly tells me what he thinks and what I do wrong or right in his eyes.
