Is Prince Harry plans an attempt at reconciliation with the Royals? He wants to invite King Charles and Prince William to his Invictus Games.
After years of silence and alienation, Prince Harry (40) should close one step towards his family. As reported on insider, the Duke of Sussex wants to invite the entire royal family to his Invictus Games 2027.
According to the Sonntagszeitung’s informants, the invitations are to be sent this month, first by email to the private secretaries in the palace, followed by a formal invitation. Timing is no coincidence: his father King Charles III. (76) Plans his appointments up to three years in advance and Harry should give the family the best possible chance of watching the games in Birmingham.
Invictus Games as a “peace offer”
“Harry agreed that Invictus should make an invitation to his family,” revealed a source of the newspaper. The organization hopes “that the royal family will come to support the wounded veterans. Harry hopes that his father will chase her differences aside and visit the Invictus Games.”
The Invictus Games he launched in 2014 are Prince Harry’s heart project. At the sporting event, hundreds of wounded veterans from over 20 nations compete. “The Royals have always supported Invictus and are proud of what Harry has achieved in this area. This is a offer of peace from him that could be replied,” said the insider.
Play in parallel to Queen Camilla’s birthday
Prince Harry’s relationship with his family has been broken since the “Megxit” in 2020. At that time, the number five of the British succession to the throne and his wife Duchess Meghan (43) laid down the royal duties and moved to the USA, where they still live with their two children to this day. The conflict reached one of the low points with an Oprah interview in March 2021, in which Meghan made serious accusations against the royal family. In his Netflix documentary and his “Reserve” autobiography, Harry subsequently revealed further family secrets.
The Invictus Games 2027 would be the first time since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022 that Harry would show himself together with his father and brother Prince William (43). When Charles crowned up the following year, he was only present for a short time. But the timing could become a problem: the games are scheduled for July 12 to 17, 2027 – the grand finale falls exactly on Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday. Celebrations should already be planned for this day.
Prince Harry is ready for reconciliation
Royal expert Ingrid Seward sees the chances that King Charles could still take part in the event: “The king could come to show his support for the armed forces and congratulate Harry on his most important life success.” However, she also warns: “The only reason why the king is hesitant to be associated with his son is that he no longer trusts him not to repeat her private conversations.”
Harry himself had signaled his willingness to reconciliation last month: “There is no point in fighting further. Life is precious.” He added: “Forgiveness is 100 percent possible because I want my father and brother back.”
