Her crimes seem to be paying off. Following the success of the Netflix series Inventing Anna, fake heiress Anna “Delvey” Sorokin gets a chance to tell her own story.
It seems exactly what Rachel DeLoache Williams warned about is happening: Anna “Delvey” Sorokin is turning her crimes into profit. Williams is one of her victims, a betrayed friend. She recently complained that Sorokin is getting too much attention and it seems that crimes of this kind are even worthwhile.
Anna “Delvey” Sorokin tells her story herself
You should feel confirmed, because Anna Sorokin’s story is far from over. As the industry magazine “Deadline” reports, there will be a documentary series about the fake heiress. The incarcerated Russian is said to be working with the producers of “Surviving R. Kelly”, Bunim/Murray Productions.
According to “Deadline”, the series should accompany Sorokin in her next steps in life. The woman, who was born in Russia and grew up in Germany, is currently in custody because she overstayed her US visa and could be deported. And so the documentary should not look back on their crimes. Rather, it starts where “Inventing Anna” ends – after the conviction.
“Complicated and Fascinating Character”
“Anna’s story is very much alive and is still unfolding as we speak. We have been developing this project with her for months now and have spent countless hours on the phone and video chatting with her. She is a complex and fascinating character and we are delighted looking forward to telling the next chapter of their ever-evolving story,” said Michael Driscoll, Director of Development at Bunim/Murray Productions.
For years, Anna Sorokin pretended to be the rich German heiress Anna Delvey and defrauded banks and hotels of large sums. She was in prison for four years (including pre-trial detention) until she was released in February 2021 and arrested again six weeks later.
