Make-up: These make-up mistakes make you look older

Make-up: These make-up mistakes make you look older

One or the other mistake in make-up makes us look pretty old. These are the biggest make-up mistakes that destroy the glow.

Make-up serves to bring out the best in our type. But too much or the wrong make-up can quickly make us look a few years older. These are the worst make-up mistakes – and the best tricks of the make-up professionals.

Black eyeliner

When applying make-up, most of us use black eyeliner, the classic. In the case of an eye area that is already marked by a few delicate lines, women should rather go for brown. This looks softer overall and makes small wrinkles less prominent. Incidentally, this only applies to the eyeliner on the upper lash line, on the lower waterline it is even better to avoid eyeliner altogether. Not only does it make your eyes look smaller, it also makes you look old and tired quickly. This is especially true for women who tend to have dark circles or shadows under their eyes.

Lip liner darker than lipstick

Lip liners give our lips more contour and are a great help for anyone who is a little unsure about applying lipstick. However, the shade should not be visibly different from the lipstick, otherwise you will quickly look a few years older. The same applies to prominently outlined lips – especially if the lip liner accidentally settles in the wrinkles around the mouth. Master in the right application is Kim Kardashian (41), who regularly presents perfectly made-up lips.

Make-up professionals swear by nuances such as nude, mauve or peach tones. These appear more natural and make the complexion appear fresher overall. The general rule is: either choose a lip liner that resembles the natural lip color or the shade of the lipstick. If you have narrow lips, you should opt for light nuances – these optically enlarge the lips and make them look fuller.

Too much foundation

Too much foundation quickly makes our face look like a mask and therefore quite old. In order to conceal as many impurities, pigment spots and the like as possible, most of us use more foundation than necessary. At worst, the product collects in the creases, an absolute make-up faux pas. As is so often the case here, less is more. The foundation should best be applied with a special brush or cosmetic sponge so that the result is particularly even.

Blush tone does not fit

A touch of blush is a quick and easy way to add a freshness kick. Used correctly, it gives us a youthful glow – but the opposite can be achieved with make-up on our cheeks or a blush that is too bright. Unfortunately, doing without blush completely is not a solution either. Especially if you have a rather pale complexion or a round face. Here it is a matter of the right dosage and a color nuance that suits the skin tone. Ideally, the color also harmonizes with the eyebrows. Rouge should always be applied with a brush – from the middle of the cheek in light movements towards the hairline.

The wrong eyebrow shape

Eyebrows frame the face, giving it more contour and expressiveness. Therefore, the shape of the eyebrows should definitely be matched to that of the face – if in doubt, simply seek advice from a beautician. However, what is always wrong is eyebrows that are too narrow or painted bars.
