Selenskyj met King Charles at Windsor Castle, only hours after new Russian attacks on Ukraine.
Wolodymyr Selenskyj (47), mostly seen in olive green military clothing, visited Windsor Castle in a black blazer and black pants on Monday. The Ukrainian president was lunch with King Charles III. (76) loaded.
Charles warmly welcomed his guest to the property in Berkshire. The two men were photographed through the historical rooms of the castle during the relaxed conversation, smiling they shook their hands in the Grand Corridor. The recordings show a familiar atmosphere between the British Monarch and the President of the War.
Selenskyj’s visit to Great Britain took place under dramatic circumstances. Just a few hours earlier, Russia had massively attacked Ukraine. At least ten civilians were killed.
Important conversations in front of NATO summit
A visit to Windsor Castle is only the first part of Selenskyj’s London trip. In the afternoon he was also supposed to meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Strander in Downing Street. A government spokesman announced that Starmer would reaffirm “our unshakable support for Ukraine”.
These dates gain additional importance, as the NATO summit in the Hague begins on Tuesday. There, the increase in defense spending is at the top of the agenda. Selenskyj is invited to the two -day meeting, but will not take part in the main discussions of the allies.
